August 16 Message from Commissioner Beth Brinly

Can you believe it’s August already and fall is just around the corner? I guess time really does fly when you are having fun (and are really busy)! And I know we have all been quite busy this summer.

I hope most of you have had the opportunity to participate in the regional internal branding events held across the state. It was exciting to see how each region worked to creatively introduce our staff and partners to the new Kentucky Career Center brand and initiative.

The Green River area enjoyed hosting pot luck lunches with office staff and partners while learning about our branding initiatives. The Cumberland region had team-building activities which included a branding scavenger hunt and creating a billboard to advertise the new Kentucky Career Center logo.  Barren River had events in Glasgow and Bowling Green featuring Branding Bingo and a trivia contest.  West Kentucky held four events in their region where offices made branding bulletin boards to keep everyone up to date on the branding efforts.  Janyce Sorrells made a quilt of the brand arrow to showcase in their office.  Fantastic job Janyce! Northern Kentucky is scheduled for mid-August and plans for a great time to be had by all that attend.

In an effort to make our Brand Promise a reality, offices will continue to be working for the next few months through the One Stop Certification Self-Assessment process.  While each office can reflect the character of the local community, customers can always depend on certain standards in terms of graphic identity, menu of products, convenience of location, customer service and quality of place. This effort is another Kentucky Workforce Investment Board strategic plan initiative which works in conjunction with branding and outreach.

As we continue to educate more staff and partners, the internal launch phase is a critical step in transforming our offices and web presence into a customer-centric environment that fulfills the Brand Promise.  While we are excited to tell folks outside our agencies that we will soon be the Kentucky Career Center, we first must complete the internal steps like the One Stop Certification process to ensure that we all have a great story to tell about the services we provide in our communities.
